Two Cinnamon Bagels Later....

Boy am I in the mood to write. Amongst a billion errands I have run today and it only being 1 o’clock I have some thoughts running through my head. I am in the process of searching for a better paying part time job. Do those exist? Of course! I am sitting at my computer in my nerd/hipster glasses in a giant v-neck sweater. Can you feel the Ivy League look as you read this??? I figure it will help get into my scholarly mode.

I want more cozy sweaters. Hell, I want more of everything! My wardrobe is looking bare these days and all I can do is save my bucks for what? Is it better to save for short weekend vacations or have a well stocked closet? Perhaps both are worth my money. That is all I would spend it on: Vacations and clothes. I know people who save strictly for traveling but what’s the fun of traveling if you don’t have an awesome wardrobe to accompany the destination?

Now as much as I want to save money, thrifting is not cutting it these days. Never in my 11 year run as a thrift shopper have I found thrift stores to be so expensive and inadequate! Lacking in good selection and low prices, thrift stores are hitting a low point in my book. On that note, I have begun to compile a list of places I seem to get the good deals here in SoCal. Wherever you are, look for consignment stores and boutiques that sell used clothes. There you will find some great items! There is one boutique in Grossmont Center, San Diego, where I found the best black Peacoat! Not only have I been starving for a simple black Peacoat, it was only $10!!!!!!! Find your little nooks and crannies of vintage stores; you will be surprised what treasures you will find. They tend to be more fashion forward and less picked over. Thrift Stores, it been real.

Good evening my fashion lovers and friends.

Do you ever have a moment when the one thing you have always loved fails to inspire you? I started to think that way until In began to “shop” around: by that I mean look at the many different magazines, blogs and websites that boast great style. Here are a few things that have caught my attention.

Freedom Earrings, Woman in White (Courtesy of the Sartorialist), and the Fruit Stripe Gum Sunglasses.....

Looks like I am getting into wearing white; something I never saw myself doing. I always assumed that white would make my paleness more obvious! Impossible. According to color theory, the shade that would make someone more pale is black! What have I been doing. White flowy dress, here I come! And what better accessories to accompany white than rainbow ones! Fruit stripe gum style! hehe Inspiration shows up when you least expect it....

Thoughts for Today

When we think of healthy body image, we often imagine our bellies shrinking along with our butts. However, would anyone ask Christina Hendricks to try and lose weight? That woman looks fantastic! She is the epitome of what a healthy body looks like. I am in no way downing the fat or the skinny, what I want to stress is the happy medium that is your body type. We can all thank magazines for displaying the only thing that is accepted in Hollywood. NOT! Perhaps you did not realize this but, you do not belong to Hollywood and if you did, I would hope you took a stand like Christina Hendricks!

With a better way of saying this, fresh out of Biology, my sagacious Professor could not stress enough how we are all built differently. Have you ever heard of such a thing? What he meant was that some will be short, some will be tall, some will be thicker, some will twiggier, and guess what, there is nothing you can do to change that! To quote my favorite Lady of Pop, “You were born this way.” Hehehe you know when you ought to work on you vs. I am doing this to look like said celebrity…..if you are worried about your body it better be for health purposes. Not image. Along with good health comes a confident human being. The point I am trying to make is be your biggest fan and do things for the right purpose.

P.S. What brought this to mind…..today my neighbor commented on my beagle’s weight. All I said was, this is how she was born, which is entirely true! I am walking her because that is what you do for dogs. Anyway.
