On the Runway

I have begun my rounds of the “Fall 2010 Ready to Wear” collections. The decision to click on Chanel for the Red Whisker’s first runway review turned out to be as unpredictable as an earthquake in Maryland.
The setting: an ice cave! And I’m already on the edge of my seat. A quick skim of the collection description let’s me know I’m in for a cold, hard viewing. Polar bear suits with shaggy snow boots. Considering fur can stir up controversy like no other, Karl Lagerfeld opted for faux fur. He attached it to everything: skirts, sweater dresses, purses and the most breathtaking leather jackets. I wonder if he used faux leather. A Leather jacket with a fur lined collar, a must have for this upcoming winter. Not that it gets cold in San Diego, but damn, this is one hot piece.

The show was more theatre than fashion. But isn’t that what runway shows are all about? You see the most elaborate outfits meant to accentuate every detail and thought put into the collection. No, you would never strut down 5th Avenue with fur pants. But the runway show is a vision, a spectacle! How else can you enjoy models entering a show via cave, gliding over a ¼ inch of water? Makes for an attractive show.
