Cindy Sherman

Something you would never suspect: she photographs herself!! Yay Ms. Sherman. Her ever popular series "Untitled Film Stills" was her portraying a blond actress in film stills or live shots. As an inspiration to my photos, again, the idea of photographing oneself could seem a bit narcissistic. Not when you are trying to convey a certain emotion or feeling and only your crazed mind will bring that about in a photo. That is the point. The relationship between you and the camera is different when it is just you and the camera! A whole new persona takes place. You have no complexes about what is being seen through the lens. You can be anyone! That's what I admire about Sherman. She has transformed herself so many times, and never once can you detect her real identity. She keeps it masked very well. Kudos to Sherman. I hope to follow in your footsteps.
