Mary Ellen Mark

Documentary Photographer. This was the first photographer I was to ever report on. The photo above is documentation of the mentally ill. Someone who is of the non-famous. They are most worthy of being documented. Is that not what Photography is all about? Photographing the unknown? Bringing something to the light? A good photographer does this. That was the original intent of this medium. Mark was a photographer marching to the beat of a different drum. Her subjects included Indian circus performers, Mother Teresa and prostitutes of Bombay.
