Artist of the Week

As a photographer, I will want to report on some of the most influential photographers of my learning. So we can start with my top 5. And each one has his/her own style. No two photographers are alike, only in a sense that I find them very inspiring.

David Levinthal
Directly influential in a sense that he photographs miniature inanimate objects and creates life size photos out of them. I was introduced to this photographer in 2007-thank you Professor Durant. The idea was that somebody could take what they found and make a theatrical photo. As I learned, when you are dealing with tableau, and by tableau I mean the act of dealing with inanimate objects, you can not expect much. There can be manipulation but not of the "actors" themselves. That ends up creating that much more of a compelling image. This style could go right along side documentary photography: You never know what you are going to get, but can be pleasantly surprised!
