Sorry to have bored everyone with organization talk. I was stumped for a sec on a subject. I spoke of it because I was in the act....any who.....
Tonight will boast a grand adventure to the Laguna Barracks, alcohol and all. Should make for an intriguing evening.
Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend, I was introduced to a little area called Downtown La Mesa. The area was not unfamiliar, but it was uncharted. One glorious Sunday in April, my man and I sauntered around this area and he took me to a shop of second hand clothing. I actually don't remember the store's name; I do know they are my new favorite thrift store! Yesterday, I revisited this store and spent $12 acquiring a silky ivory tank, a sheer star patterned blouse, and a black and turquoise striped tank. Talk about a deal!!!!! Then I waltzed over to this other second hand store to find a Louis Vuitton canvas purse, with a cute pink label, $5. I figured it must be counterfeit, but it's legit!!!!!!-making that my first designer purchase!! I really don't care for Louis Vuitton purses, just the luggage on account of its classy factor, but this little canvas purse is adorable!
San Diego has little to no vintage stores, and if they do, they are ungodly expensive. The same goes for thrift stores. Back in the day there was this one thrift store I would go to, called Plaza Thrift on Plaza Blvd. Anyway, I could walk in there with $10 and roll out with a trash bag full of clothes!! I miss those days. Thrifting and antiquing have become very trendy. Any "good" items are marked way above their resale value, knowing that most people will pay that price, except people like me of course ;) I am very picky when I thrift shop now. I used to grab a shopping cart and fill it to the brim with all sorts of clothing and accessories; not anymore.
My point is, La Mesa has brought those days back, for the most part. There is one place called "La Mesa Thrift" but it was closed. I will catch you open one day :)
Until then, I will never tell anyone about these stores, they get enough local business without becoming trendy and overpriced.
