I have had this discussion with my boyfriend many a times, well, more me than him. The discussion pertains to our differences in what we buy. He prefers blu-ray whereas I could care less. He projectile vomits is I even mention VHS. I drive a Mercedes that is older than me, whereas he drives a fairly new truck. I still listen to cds that contain David Bowie and the Beatles while he only listens to whatever is on his iphone, usually the latest and greatest from his very current bands. My point is: him and I have vast differences in what we like and it always seems that he is on the cutting edge when I seem to be drifting back in time.
My whole life is consumed by the second hand walks of life. I find almost everything used is filled with such character and zing. I couldn't imagine getting something new. In fact, when I get something new, say, a pair of shoes, I try so hard to preserve them and keep them pristine, knowing that I will be wearing them for a very long time. When I shop for new clothes, I would rather be shopping in a thrift store.
So what I want to know is what do we prefer? Vintage or new. I know that most ladies have been taught to mix vintage with brand new, that's what I was taught. Thank you Anna Wintour. But when it comes to clothing, does vintage give you the ick factor? Does perusing a J.Crew store make you want to hurl?
