One of my favorite movies of all time, released the year I was born. Such a simple movie. Brought to us by the 80's cult writer John Hughes, you have the story of Andy (MOLLY RINGWALD!!!). The girl amongst richies, Andy navigates her way through a stressful High School season while dressing as uniquely as possible. Of course I love that she makes all of her clothes, cuz that's exactly what I did in High School. God I love this movie!!! And the coincidence of it all: Andy's prom dress (seen in the picture above) ended up making its way into my arms for me to wear for prom. I was at a thrift store in Laurel, Maryland. I walked right in knowing I was not going to pay over $15 for a prom dress, and there it was!!!! The $10 Pink Polka dot vintage gown. Fit me like a dream!!! Anyway.....

Andy takes the fashion risks but the real attention should be paid to the most colorful character, Iona (Annie Potts). Her first outfit invoked the punk of the 80's. With her spiky hair and leather, "Applause, applause, applause." She switched her persona every time we saw her, like a regular Madonna, awfully deep.

Then there's Ducky, Phil Dale you scum wad, played by Jon Cryer. Can I just say I admire his style. This is where I get into the whole thing about men dressing creatively with what they are given. The Duckman shoes are all I request. Oh the 80's...what a great time in Fashion!!
