For the past week, I have watched The Devil Wears Prada 4 times. What is it about that film that has me watching over and over and not finding it the least bit boring? For those of you who haven't seen it, Netflix it right now. Of course the obsession is on that fact that it is about the fashion industry, particularly the Fashion Magazine. A million girls would kill for the job of being the assistant of Anna Wintour, I know I would, but in this film you have Anne Hathaway as a girl named Andy, who could care less about this highly coveted position. Any way.The best thing to note is, of course, the countless ensembles. The costume designer was the lovely Pat Field. For those of you not familiar with her yet, she is responsible for putting Sex and the City on the map along with trends like giant flower pins and name plate necklaces. This film also includes my favorite type of scene: the makeover montage!!!!!
Probably the best scene of the entire film.....Meryl Streep verbally assaulting Anne Hathaway's character with a lesson in fashion. She starts with Cerulean. She brought up some amazing points to those who "don't care" about fashion and think it is a waste of money and time. She managed to create an interesting outlook on the fashion industry. No it's not curing cancer, but it is something that a good amount of people pay attention to. It was a small blip in the film but it is a subject that should be discussed further.
