Writer's Block

Yeah. I had one :P
Going through some of this winter's trends, a certain color combination of Red and Black came up!

One of my first Visual Arts classes I took in college was called Visual Concepts 1, which taught the essentials to creating and understanding 2-Dimensional pieces. At the time, I didn't care much for the class; no one did. Once we approached color theory, things became interesting :) This was something that pertained to all of us, as color is something we encounter every second of our lives....even when we are asleep, unless your dreams appear like a black and white film?

Learning the affects of placing a shade of pink on top of red, and then taking the same shade of pink and placing it on a dark blue, you noticed that on the red, the pink was fairly pink, but on the blue it appeared more violet in comparison. You get the idea. Someone in my class very stupidly (sycophant) stated that color theory had helped him when it came to getting dressed. I laughed of course, but considered it to be a valid statement; perhaps because one of my favorite things about getting dressed is the amazing color combinations that can be created. This class only amplified my experimentation in colored ensembles.

With color theory in mind, I never combine red, white and blue to avoid patriotism; Orange and black, because Halloween colors are for decorations only; and red and green, too Christmas'y. And unfortunately, my a-hole college coach shattered my love of the purple/yellow combo, by asking if I was a Laker fan. ICK!

These days, I like BOLD. Even when it comes to patterns, they have too stand out with color or the combination of the colors. Nothing says bold like a red and white striped blouse! mmm.
