Exit Through the Gift Shop

I have not done a movie review yet...only ones that are strictly for the film's fashion. This is my branch out day!

Exit Through the Gift Shop is a documentary that follows Thierry Guetta; a man responsible for documenting the creative movement of street art for the past 10 years. He is a man with a passion for capturing a moment in time, and he just so happened to capture some of the most infamous Street Artists of our time, that includes Banksy and Shepard Fairey. In the events of him documenting Street Art he becomes the Street Artist known as Mr. Brainwash.

This film shows us what happens when you massage someones ego to much. Although Mr. Brainwash does exactly that, as the film said, he became the next Andy Warhol: he took iconic pieces and made them ordinary. He's like the Lady Gaga of Street Art; he took inspiration from every street artist and made a style that sold more. I am not sure whether I can respect that or not? A part of me wants to call him the sellout but really he took some advice given by Banksy himself and made a hell of an art show! It just goes to show you that "anyone can be an artist; it all depends on how creative you are."-(Copyright of Hurricane Katrina ;)

Any who, take a look at the Documentary; it is available for instant viewing on Netflix. The film of Bansky inflating a Guantanamo Bay Prisoner and placing him inside Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was something I saw years ago when I was first introduced to the artist. It was amazing to see how the film was made (courtesy of Thierry)and what actual Disneyland police do! Go Banksy!
