Continuing from the last post about my keen obsession with ballet flats and slippers.
Do you know how many times I have ordered ballet shoes, like actual ballet shoes, with the point toe, the ones that ballerinas use to dance around in, yeah, I have ordered those about 4 separate times hoping that a certain different size or brand would allow my gargantuan foot to fit inside. Fail storm completely. But I figure, the fifth time, I ought to find an actual store where I can try them on before buying. I just feel a little silly going into specialty stores to buy something with the intention of using it for something completely different! I wanted a pair so that I could splatter them with red paint and glitter.

The inspiration came Rossella Tarabini, the designer for Anna Molinari. Talk about a mad woman! One of her favorite things to buy are vintage petticoats......
Well, she created these ballet slippers and I have been obsessed ever since. The article where I found them was a Harper's Bazaar c.2005. Her inspiration came from The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy wears the unforgettable Ruby Slippers!! And who could forget her sky blue gingham jumper over a puff sleeved blouse? I wanted to recreate the Ruby Slippers....
