First you must learn to play by the rules,
then you must forget the rules and play
from your heart.
I was looking for a quote that summed up my feelings on personal style. BAM! That would be it, above there, but I also believe that we can go the opposite direction. I knew a few people in high school that had some atrocious fashion choices that honed their personal style into something unique and perfectly sartorial
. Of course, it works against the majority of us. I am just trying to defend the few this theory DID work for. I was one of them; because, when I speak of atrocious choices, I wore Dickies overalls for my entire Freshmen year of High school; well, at least 2-3x a week. Nevertheless, as comfortable and unique as they come, the classic workman’s overalls are not what you would call fashionable. But, over time, I realized what worked and what did not. I was able to keep my fashionista eye open, and still experiment with some appalling pieces. I feel that helped to develop my style.****No offense to a certain sister and brother in law, who find said overalls perfect for married life in Santee :)
